Money comes and
money goes,
but happiness is rooted in family and fun and
being poor blows
OK so i am not a poet, but i just don't how to give my own personal twist to the whole "money" sucks and shouldn't rule the planet speech.
My poor wife needs to have her wisdom teeth taken out, but no dentist works on "payments" anymore. Who in the hell can afford $3000 for any procedure???? and the kicker is that i keep being told how "good" our insurance is. Interesting, because if I offered service to customer's in my industry the way that insurance companies do, I think it would go something like this:
ME: Hi, Normally, our fee is $200 but since you have insurance which pays 50% I need to charge our special rate of $425.
Dismayed Customer: Uhh, that seems dumb, you guys blow! F*ck Off.
ME: Right. (company immediately fails/is firebombed by nuns w/orphans.)
But apparently in the real world common sense and logic have no place. Here in the real world, A "doctor" (ok dentist - whatever) can look at my wife (in obvious agony) and say. “Do you have $1500.00 to pay me RIGHT NOW for this simple 25 minute procedure?” [wife says "no”] "oh, ok then have a nice day"
I think that we should live in a world where things cost what they cost. A car that costs $5700 to make costs me $12000. Fine. I can see that the car company is making 210% profit on each sale… but at least I can see that and make a choice. My wife is in F***ing agony and a doctor whose overhead is maybe $40.11 (2 staffers at $20 for 25 minutes, plus 1 person cleaning tools for 10 minutes plus $20 in disposable cotton and gloves and shit plus electricity at $200/month and water at $25/month plus $1500 a month rent for 25 minutes plus $65,000 in student loans over a 35 year career) wants to charge $1500.00
At the same exorbitant markup of an automobile (210%) this trip to the dentist should cost $84.23
His markup is 3740%
This makes me want to hurt people and blow things up.
Or alternatively move to Canada and get it for free (or mexico and just bribe somebody $50.00)
